UM Swimming Team Won 12 Golds and Broke 5 Records in Macao University Swimming Championship

The 22nd Macao University Swimming Championship was held in Macau Taipa Olympic Swimming Pool on the 9th and 16th of January 2016.

There were three higher education institutes participated in this event including University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute and Institute for Tourism Studies. After two days of fierce competition, UM ended up with remarkable results of 12 golds, 10 silvers and 8 bronzes in 10 individual and 3 relay events. We also broke 5 records of the championship.

UM Swimming Team sent all 18 swimmers to participate in this competition. CHAO MAN HOU (FSS – Year 2 Student) won two record-breaking gold medals in Men 50-meter Freestyle and 50-meter Breaststroke. TAN CHI YAN (FSS – Year 3 Student) and LEI ON KEI (FED – Postgraduate Student) also won a record-breaking gold medal respectively in Women 50-meter Butterfly and Women 100-meter Breaststroke. In addition, the two ladies formed a relay team with CHOI WENG TONG (FED – Year 2 Student) and LI BOJIE (FSS – Year 1 Student) won another record-breaking gold medal in Women 4 x 50-meter Freestyle Relay.
