Sports Affairs Internship Programme (SAIP)

The UM Sports Volunteer Programme (UMSVP) was launched in the 2022/2023 academic year by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), It aims to nurture and develop students’ quality to become volunteers through participation in different sports activities and training, and to enhance students’ ability in knowledge integration and application. It promotes the spirit of volunteerism, encourages participation in sports, and provides a platform for students to apply their knowledge and skills while giving back to the campus and community.

Now, we are pleased to announce a new recruitment round​ of volunteers, along with the launch of the Sports Affairs Internship Programme (SAIP)​, offering students hands-on experience and valuable internship opportunities in the field of sports management and event operations.

Programme Information

Objective

The SAIP is designed to provide students with practical experience in sports administration, facility management and event operations. It aims to:
▸Equip students with real-world skills in sports event planning and execution
▸Develop competencies in sports facility and resource management
▸Prepare students for future careers in sports management, administration, or related fields
▸Strengthen students’ ability to integrate and apply academic knowledge in professional settings

Participants

Target Participants:

  • UM Students (Priority will be given to Year 1 students and those recommended by RC)

Content

▸ Sports Facility Management (The operation of the audio-visual system, fitness room, swimming pool management and equipment maintenance.)
▸ Sports Affairs Management (Planning, promotion and execution of sports events and activities)
▸ Practical training in sports administration

Awards & Benefits

SAIP – Sports Affairs Internship Programme:
▸ Certificate of Completion
        Internship Certificate issued by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) upon completion of the required 50 internship hours per semester.
        Certificate issued by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) in recognition of the completion of relevant training and service requirements.

Additional Benefits & Opportunities
▸Programme Integration
        Internship hours from the SAIP can be combined with UMSVP volunteer hours to count towards the Gold, Silver or Bronze awards.
▸Further Development
        Eligible for a recommendation to participate in the Summer Exchange Programme.
